Welcome to Talent Behind the Talent. Our series spotlighting the people behind Inizio Engage’s recruitment expertise. These are the individuals who connect the right candidates with the right roles, shaping careers and strengthening our clients’ organisations from the inside out.

Today, we hear from Jacob McCalla, a Recruitment Executive, on what drew him to recruitment, what excites him most, and the part of the journey he finds most rewarding.

What made you want to get into recruitment?

„My journey into recruitment started with a real drive to make a positive impact in healthcare. I began my career at Inizio working in medical sales, promoting Influenza vaccines. That experience gave me a frontline view of how critical the right people are in delivering meaningful change.

When the chance came to explore recruitment, I jumped at it. It’s a different kind of impact, but just as powerful – connecting with professionals already in the industry and guiding those, like I once was, who are stepping in for the first time. Helping candidates navigate the process and land roles where they can thrive is genuinely rewarding.“

What excites you most about helping people find new opportunities?

Recruitment is about guiding people through career-defining moments. What excites me most is helping candidates through each step – especially when it comes to preparation. Giving people the clarity and confidence to perform at their best is something I find hugely satisfying. And when someone secures a role they’ve worked hard for, knowing I had a hand in that journey never gets old.

What’s your favourite part of the recruitment journey?

It has to be the coaching element, particularly at final interview stage. Whilst it’s always the candidate’s job to bring their best, I love being a sounding board in that final stretch. Whether it’s helping them reflect on their achievements or just easing pre-interview nerves, playing a small role in such a pivotal career moment is something I take seriously – and take pride in.

Closing thought

At its heart, recruitment is a people business. While process matters, what truly drives success is how we manage relationships – with clients, candidates, and stakeholders.

Our responsibility is to deliver outcomes that are informed, personalised and right for both the individual and the organisation.
