Rapid deployment of a Public Health Medical Affairs team to improve vaccine access, scientific exchange and health equity

A leading vaccines client needed to rapidly establish a Public Health Field Medical team to deliver high-quality, non-promotional medical engagement within a defined 12-month period.

The objective was to create meaningful, scientifically-led interactions that would:

• Improve patient access to vaccination and generate actionable Medical Affairs insights
• Strengthen scientific exchange to help address health inequalities and access challenges
• Build stronger, more connected relationships between Public Health organisations and Medical Affairs

This required not only speed of deployment, but also a highly skilled team capable of engaging diverse stakeholders across complex healthcare systems.

Scalable MSL deployment model delivering targeted scientific engagement and public health stakeholder collaboration

Inizio Engage UK designed and implemented a tailored MSL solution, rapidly recruiting and deploying an initial team of three experienced Medical Science Liaisons.

The team focused on high-impact, face-to-face engagement with priority stakeholders across the UK, combining scientific expertise with a deep understanding of public health dynamics.

Key elements of the approach included:

• Delivering targeted education and training on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), vaccination, and consultation skills
• Building and strengthening networks across healthcare and academic institutions

• Establishing a flexible and scalable engagement model, enabling rapid expansion as programme needs evolved

Following strong early impact, the team was expanded from three to five MSLs to further extend reach and engagement.

• Demonstrated behaviour change among healthcare professionals, including nurses confidently challenging GP prescribing practices and proactively seeking further training
• Speaking opportunities secured at regional immunisation conferences, elevating scientific dialogue and visibility
• A university partnership delivering 212 engagements, including 7 events and 24 one-to-one sessions
• Improved vaccine knowledge and confidence among nurses, strengthening their role as public health advocates
• Establishment of a robust engagement model, embedding consistency, quality, and collaboration across the team
